When I started this blog as Walking to Lose Weight around August 2008 I was only aware of myself and how it would help me to walk as a weight loss strategy. I had been told that as a total newbie to Internet Marketing, doing it myself (that is without spending thousands of dollars on professionals doing it for me), to stay away from weight loss and physical exercise, as SEO blogs. The level of progress within the walking to lose weight keyword category testifies to an amazing and to me wonderful new emphasis on walking as an exercise, and its many benefits but primarily the benefit of weight loss.

Walking helps me with other areas of my life: it gets me around particularly in those periods when I have been without a car; I walked to school from kindergarten to the end of high school; then walked extensively around the university campus; it is a pleasure when living in particularly attractive areas to walk with friends for them to enjoy it with you, etc.

In other words I have never been adverse to walking other than in too hot weather.

The success of walking for weight loss as a public strategy meant that the monetary benefits from my blog almost matched my enthusiasm!

As a weight loss strategy it has been a long term goal for me to replace the short term diets and exercise with a lifestyle which supported my ideal weight.

Right now I feel very satisfied that everything in my life is better!

When I found that ‘walking to lose weight’ as a keyword had increased in competition enormously I changed the blog name to Walking for Weight Loss.

Walking for weight loss symbolizes  something bigger for me: it is the platform for change  in all areas of my lifestyle.  I changed  a 45  year life pattern-I’m talking about  the shape of my days not the shape of my body which also did change significantly- and my attitude to activity. My world view is different and healthier.

My world view now supports using a significant change in one area of your lifestyle to  create a new world view of yourself. Walking for weight loss has been this for me.

After watchng and playing on the Wii this holiday, particularly Just Dance, it seems walking for weight loss may have a serious contest with other of the more technology based exercise tools. On the other hand it is possible that as much as I enjoyed it, the Wii is a part of the holiday or vacation mentality and not so much a regular way to enjoy exercise and its commensurate benefits.

Walking to lose weight continues to be of enormous benefit even in away from home or holiday mode. Recent vacation time for me included getting up and walking first thing, shopping at new boutiques and malls- lots of walking for weight loss- and activity from the time of awakening to bed at night, followed by restful restorative sleep.

I’m aware that the time we make for lifestyle change is often taken from elsewhere. It can be a challenge to find the extra time by removing another aspect of an existing fully comitted life.

This is done in a much better way when the new exercise routine can become a simultaneous goal with other important tasks which otherwise you may be reluctant to change.

Walking to lose weight is one of these ways of including weight loss exercise with normal daily tasks and goals. Another example is to use the Wii as part of the entertainment for friends and family.

The major advantage of walking for weight loss besides its calorie burning and muscle develping, is the ease with which you can adjust your lifestyle to joyfully include this regular exercise.

Don’t just be WiiFit this year-be walking for weight loss fit!

Between my various lifestyle blogs which are about well being and living life fully, I endeavour to teach an approach to weight loss and exercise which is about building tactics into your life in such a way as to feel and be fulfilled regularly when doing what is essentially walking for health and weight loss.

The reason I am such a supporter of walking for exercise and weight loss, particulalry pedometer steps, is that walking is the no fuss, easy lifestyle adaptation for ongoing success.

Now watching Dr Oz on Oprah talk to the author of ‘The Blue Zone’ a book about the 4 longevity hotspots around the world, he emphasized that the significant aspect to their various dietary, exercise and social habits which contributed to unusually vigorous old age, was that these-whatever they were- were routiine for them.

In other words it was theorised that regularity in good health disciplines, which in these people’s cases were unconsciously applied, was a precursor to long life and health.

Walking for weight loss is a good habit even for those not wanting to lose weight.

Make activity, healthy eatiing and friendship a part of every day- and live long and prosper! (Thanks to Mr Spock.)

Just spent the holidays with friends and it has been fun, delightful and I’ve walked to lose weight successfully daily without a problem. The process has become standard-where will we walk for weight loss today?

It becomes easy for me to include walking or other exercise, particularly counting steps, when others also like to enjoy outdoors, walk, try new places and things. Alas sometimes the extra calories consumed during a fun vacation can dominate unless consciously walking for weight loss.

On the other hand, walking to lose weight particularly, can act as a “bank” account- when a certain amount has been achieved the participant can become eligible for food rewards. Often the constant monitoring of food intake can feel intrusive on holidays. Yet handled correctly a balanced food/exercise (intake/output) is perfect for enabling some indulgences during leisure periods.

Walking and sunshine, light meals and plenty of incidental exercise are perfect for the walking for fun and weight loss particpant.

While a romantic stroll around a fabulous beach could be an option here I am talking about the amazing effect on weight loss of finding other activites at night other than watching movies or TV. As Christmas fades and New Years almost seems old, those games and toys such as the Wii are inportant to keep out and available for use. Also all the exercise equipment should be in use if you are committed to walking for weight loss.

Anything that needs setting up or space found, should be a priority.

The most important walking for weight loss tip: if you’re tempted to put whatever weight loss device you received for Christmas away, don’t. Acknowledge your feelings about it and then do something to improve your chances of using it. Clean out that junk room (good exercise itself) and find the space. Set up the dvd player so you can watch while you walk or bike. Break it up into chunks if you find it overwhelming. Next time you’re looking for that thing (usually food) to make watching TV more interesting at this time of year, go to your exercise project and do some work on it.

A walking for weight loss lifestyle is most effective when you look for activity which keeps your mind off food.

Choose ways to divert yourself at these times.
