Keeping Up Your Planned Walking to Lose Weight
Sometimes I can get distracted from any plan such as now when the blog post a day project in November is running over into December. Walking to lose weight is the same. Sometimes the decisions I make on the day make my commitments hard to keep. For example today I had anticipated a return to my regular routine for exercising after two days of abnormal activity.
Already at 7.30 a.m. I’m plotting out the day and pushing the planned gym visit away.
The agenda has some physicality to it (vacuuming, cleaning windows) but it doesn’t have the power of my planned December routine. See in December before all the parties, Christmas eating (modified but with some leeway) and January cruise, I have an intense workout schedule all set up. When I stick to this I know I’ll be able to enjoy Christmas and my vacation from a position of personal power. When I return from being away I will be in my best shape ever. I know because I did this last year and it worked brilliantly.
As December and Christmas have an effect anyway on most of us I take the opportunity to build the good-for-me things into the fun things I do. As I will be shopping for presents and specialty items this is a great way to continue walking to lose weight but with attitude! Mall walking is a great way to keep on walking. The post Christmas and New Year sales are also an asset for the keep fit agenda.
Keep gift selection to shops and avoid online at this time of year if you can to get the benefit of walking to lose weight. I do this and swear by it! Take every and any opportunity to walk.
This combines incentive and good sense. Walking to lose weight and some more specific exercise, even running, mean all round holiday enjoyment. It also helps you see how it can be all year round if you allow for it.
Remembering this has helped me re-prioritize. I am going to the gym early rather than later as I had planned as this will mean I do actually do it.
The visit will energize me and so I can still do the other things and walking to lose weight as well.
